Hudson
This stunning home decor boutique is a true gem. After stumbling upon Hudson featured in numerous publications (ahem...Elle Decor!!!) and discovering that the store was located in the south end, I had to stop in and see what all the fuss was about. And Oh. My. Goodness! Boutique owner Jill Goldberg truly has a sense for the eclectic and her devotion to the New England style is more than evident. Not to mention she's completely adorable and very down to earth! Of course I fell in love with a large wing-back leather side chair (I admit, I went back and purchased it!) and don't even get me started on her loft full of rugs...and that was just the beginning!
You can't miss that red sign! |
The elements of New England tradition stand out in Hudson's South End show room. |
Are you drooling yet over those lighting fixtures? |
If the plethora of books enveloped by a wall of exposed bricking isn't inspiring, than I don't know what is! |
Not only is there a loft filled with endless rows of rugs of every make, design & color...there is also an extensive selection of vintage trunks. Swoon! |
I had been looking for a side chair just like this one at Palecek designs in San Francisco to add to our living room, but this beauty was on sale for half the price! I had to grab it! |
Michelle Willey
When you think of New England, you think of generations of tradition, classic to the bone in both lifestyle and design. However, Hudson's next door neighbor, Michelle Willey, is a unique shoppe that puts a classic twist on modern New England living, featuring home decor accessories and classic wardrobe staples that would entice even the most traditional New Englander, with beautiful pottery, airy linens and softer-than-soft leather tote bags.
I couldn't get enough of their selection of vintage pottery. |
All things kitchen! |
Breezy linen shirts, buttery leather totes and structured jackets are just a few of the must-have staples you'll find! |
Not to mention, everything you could need to dress up a bed! Including throw pillows - you know they had me at throw pillows! |
C. Pizzano & Son
Want some new life breathed into that hand-me-down hardwood dining table or vintage desk - look no further than C.Pizzano & Son. After five generations of cabinetry design and restoration on the south end of Boston, how could you trust anyone else? And with a name like Pazzano - you couldn't get more Bostonian if you tried!
The restoration shop on Columbus Avenue gives the true feel of 1930's Boston. |
Located on Tremont Street, this quaint french bistro is the quintessential 'foodie' mecca! With walls adorned with a vast selection of both old and new world wines and a menu that induces salivation, this is one neighborhood gem that is worth exploring! C'est tres bon!
The South End Buttery
On a Saturday morning, you'll find the south end neighborhood swarming the counter of this quaint bakery/coffee shoppe. Leaving their faithful companions on a leash near the front entrance, locals curl up with their iPads and a cup of Joe in hand and take in the weekend. Also a great spot for a quick mid-day snack or to just people watch!
The Urban Grape - South End
Ever since my mom and I stumbled upon the Urban Grape back in October of 2012, I have been a big fan. Maybe it's my infatuation for good wine and newly discovered love for single-malted whiskey or my appreciation for incredibly refreshing interior decor. Either way, this isn't just your average wine bar and tasting shop. Pop in, bring in the dog or the baby carriage, take a seat, taste a few wines on the house or educate your palette with one of the many experienced guest sommeliers or wine connoisseurs from all over the world. The staff is incredibly welcoming, witty and more than capable of helping you select the perfect spirit to take home with you!
My Beautiful Partner in Crime!
Whenever I pop into Boston for work or for play, spending time exploring the dirty water with my mom makes every trip home memorable!
