New York City Street Style

New Year's Eve in New York City!!! I've been spending my snowy Saturday perusing through my closet and packing for our three day trip up in the big apple! I'm so excited, but this cold, snowy east coast weather is really putting a damper on my clothing options! Here's what I'm thinking will get me through the next few days while we walk around the big, bad city and ring in 2013!

All the way 'faux' fur! Whipping out my fur hat & matching fur gloves!

Leather pants instead of leggings to really keep the chill off!

Knee high socks & tall boots

A fabulous, warm wool coat!

Chunky chunk scarves to warm my neck!
And a little festive sparkle. After all, it is New Year's Eve!

Bedroom Talk

I'm in complete 'redesign' mode. Now that the wedding is over, the holidays are upon us and I finally have the time to kick back and relax in our newlywed apartment, I'm starting to imagine all the new possibilities and options I have to completely 'redo' our home! I realize this is a 3 year project in the making, but a girl can start pinning her creative ideas to get the juices flowing, right???

I've shared with you some of my thoughts to update our living room...but now I'm onto the bedroom. More than anything, I wish we lived in one of those darling 1700 English cottages (Like Kate Winslet's home in The Holiday) where exposed beaming and brick would give me that rustic backdrop to really design around. I would love to create a bedroom schematic that resembled this:

Who needs a headboard when you have an exposed brick wall in your bedroom??
Unfortunately I live on the 6th floor of a highrise apartment building in the DC area that was built in the 1970s. Not exactly 'quaint English cottage'. So instead of working around exposed brick, how about working around wallpaper to give the room some definition and age? I'm thinking something like this:

I don't think I'd go THAT wallpaper crazy (although I do love the wallpapered ceiling!). I'm thinking of painting our entire bedroom, but leaving one large wall (the wall in which our bed would go up against) for wall paper, to really make the headboard pop!

I need to figure out which room I want to tackle first...living room or bedroom?! Ah!!!

Grey Flooring

I am DYING over this grey wooden flooring with the detailed design in the center, layered with that plush rug. This is giving me some serious motivation to rip up the carpeting in my living & dining room and installing something very similar to what we're seeing below!

And more than anything - I wish I had that gorgeous fire place to come home to every evening!

Bridal Vision

We finally received our stunning wedding photographs from the ever-so-talented Kelly Dillon! And after designing our beautiful Minted Christmas cards around one specific image we both fell in love with...we signed, sealed and shipped all 75 of them off to our closest family & friends. Phew! Now I finally have a minute to share with you how some inspiring Pintrest pictures and architecture brought my wedding photography dream to life!

Remember this beautiful Pintrest photo?

Well...Kelly nailed it!

And this gorgeous editorial shot of the back of an exquisite gown...

Kelly brought the look to life!

I fell in love with the idea of twig centerpieces nestled in between an abundance of floral loveliness...

And I'd say my florist, Tangerine Creations, was spot on!

I drooled over the idea of perfectly laced papery...

And landed with these lovely laced-enveloped ceremony programs perfectly executed by Impress Me Designs based in New England!

This handsome italian couple with her stunning cathedral veil and his dapper tuxedo became an instant muse for how I wanted me and my groom to look on our special day...

All I can say is...Ms. Kelly Dillon truly has a knack for this kind of stuff!

And last but certainly not least...the gorgeous Ames Hotel was more than inspiration, it was enchanting! With the late 1800's architectural structure mixed with contemporary interiors, I could only hope for photos that centered around the arched windows and modern decor...

Speechless!

It's funny how a little architectural inspiration and Pintrest perusing can really lead you to the exact look and feel you're hoping for! And none of this perfect planning could have been possible without the ever talented team of Unique Weddings by Alexis based in Boston! The team behind our beautiful day were unbelievable. And these stunning photos are a true testament to how hard they worked!

Happy 12/12/12!

Celebrate! This is the last day any of us will ever see the day, month, and year have identical numerical representation. How lucky we are to live this life and experience this world.
