Springtime in Washington DC

Even though my head and heart is still with Boston, I thought bringing some sunshine and flowers to the blog today would help put some perspective on life and help us cherish the small things. I love Washington DC in the spring - unlike Boston, the weather usually warms up a bit earlier, and those gorgeous Cherry Blossoms surrounding the Tidal Basin near the mall certainly are something to see - even if you aren't a tourist! I'm truly a very lucky girl to live in such a beautiful, clean city with so much history around me! I often take it for granted, so I decided this past weekend to hop on the metro with a friend and walk the National Mall. I hadn't visited our monuments since last summer and it was refreshing to take it all in again. I hadn't spent time at the Tidal Basin with the Blossoms in full bloom since I first moved to the Washington DC area 9 years ago, so it was high-time I visited again. What a sight! The beautiful buds prompted me to clean off our patio at home and spruce it up with fresh flowers and accessories. My husband and I love sitting outside every evening to have dinner and catch up on our day. It's our favorite part of the evening and adding fresh blooms to the mix makes the patio a lot more inviting!

The Basin was completely surrounded by beautiful, pink trees!

  2. That IS a cute little patio decor. I wonder if you're a neighbor to my mom. The patio looks identical. Plus, she is receiving mail for a Jill Pritchard Ghareeb and we don't know where to forward it! The front desk doesn't seem to know either. How to make contact, I wonder?
