Packing for Honeymoon

After many years of working very hard, investing and saving my money…I decided that this girl needed a ‘single girl’ parting gift. I’ve always been very independent and very self-driven…and now that I’m becoming part of a partnership, I decided what better way to celebrate my successful early years and the next chapter of my life than with a beautiful Louis Vuitton travel bag to embark on my first trip with my new husband! This is my first Louis Vuitton purchase…and probably my last, at least for many, many years…and I thought it was the perfect investment. This purchase will take me on many beautiful trips and hopefully will be something I can pass down to my children or grandchildren one day. As you all know by now, I’m very big on tradition and believe in taking great care of my investments, so that I can hand down these beautiful garments and home ware, like my Chanel blazer and my grandmother’s silver, to family who will hopefully appreciate it as much as I do.

I decided that this purchase was something I wanted to do for myself; so I had my new bag’s luggage tag embossed with my maiden initials. To me, it’s a testament to how far I’ve come on my own. Moving from Boston to Washington DC without any family or friends to lean on and shaping my life on my own was something that I am very proud of myself for doing. It’s a decision I will forever be grateful for making.  I’d like for my husband to give me a new luggage tag with my new married initials on it one day, but for now, I’m celebrating me and the hard work and effort that got me to this point in my life.

With only a month left to go before I’m married, I’m starting to shop and pack for our honeymoon. My soon-to-be husband and I are traveling to Italy for two weeks, stopping first on the Amalfi Coast to lounge by the water in Positano and recuperate after what will be a whirlwind wedding weekend! We then depart for Rome, Florence, Tuscany and end in Venice. With so much traveling throughout our honeymoon, we’re hoping to take only 2 pieces of carry-on luggage each with us, to make for an easier transition between cities…as well as to eliminate the possibility of lost luggage (which is such a nuisance when traveling abroad!).

I’ve traveled to Europe many times – so I’m pretty accustomed on how to pack, however, Louis Vuitton’s web site has a great tutorial called The Art of Packing, which details how to pack for short or long trips (you must check this video out!)

My fiancé and I traveled to Spain last year with only a carry on as well, so I’m pretty certain we’ll manage just fine but I’m preparing ahead of time for what I’ll need while I’m there. I plan on packing lots of layers – dresses with blazers, shorts and blouses…and of course…a pretty little bikini to lay pool side while on the Amalfi Coast!

One thing I always remember to pack is an electrical converter! That always seems to be the one thing that comes in most handy while abroad!

When it comes to travel products, I always resort to Aveda. Their travel mini selection is fantastic and washes away all the stress of traveling.  My essentials are the Shampure shampoo and conditioner, which is very moisturizing and will replenish the vitamins lost during travel. The Rosemary Mint body wash is invigorating and will leave you feeling clean and fresh after a long flight. The Aveda Foot Relief is a must, especially after a long day walking around sightseeing! The mini Phomollient styling foam is the perfect volumizer  - as it’s light, non-sticky and is perfect for straight or curly hair. And when it comes to skincare, Aveda’s All Sensitive line is the best to travel with!

I’m still putting my list together for my trip and for the wedding – but I’m very much looking forward to the life I’m about to embark on with my new husband and for all the exciting travel ahead of us!
